Real-Time Results: Week 6

Figure 1As can be seen from the CO2 measurements displayed in the accompanying figure, the "course correction" we took at the end of Week 5 was successful, possibly helped a bit by a return of the room air to its pre-perturbation status, which is suggested by the return of the CO2 content of the high-CO2-unit to a value more typical of values that preceded Week 5.  Because we want to reduce the mean concentration of the middle unit even further, however, we will leave the course correction tape in place and make no other adjustments in the middle unit at this time.

Since we are making no ongoing plant measurements in this experiment, we note here that the plants in the low-CO2 experimental unit are showing signs of severe stress, those in the mid-CO2 unit are exhibiting mild stress symptoms, while those in the high-CO2 unit appear to be quite robust, with one of them even having produced a flower.  The plants of all units, however, appear stunted with respect to what would have been observed had they been growing in a garden out-of-doors.
