General climatic conditions in the vicinity of Cold Air Cave (241'S, 2911'E) in the Makapansgat Valley of South Africa were inferred from high-resolution oxygen and carbon stable isotope data obtained from two TIMS U-series dated stalagmites. Climate during the Medieval Warm Period was warm and wet between 800 and 1400 AD.
